About Me Alexandra G. Garcia, a long-serving senior executive, spent her career assisting in the management of the pioneering, entrepreneurial, and ever-expanding family business. She most recently worked for CIP, or Chemical Industries of the Philippines, Inc., as Chief Operating Officer and Compliance & Information Officer. Garcia, who has been with the company for a long time, added Compliance & Information Officer to her COO duties in September 2017.
Dr. Eusebio S. Garcia founded CIP in 1951 as the Philippines' first chemical manufacturing company. CIP began by producing sulfuric acid and then fertilizer. As the company expanded, it paved the way for the growth of the country's chemical industry. CIP would eventually become the Chemphil Group of Companies, which included several joint venture companies co-owned by global partners. In another first, CIP expanded to build the Philippines' first polyphosphates and alkyl benzene plants.
Alexandra G. Garcia was also a member of the CAWC, Inc. board of directors. CAWC is a wholly owned subsidiary of CIP and has been a world-class manufacturer of high-quality food, technical, and ceramic grade phosphates, as well as phosphoric acid, for over 50 years. By the standards of its multinational customers in the detergent and food industries, the company is a top-tier chemical producer and supplier. As a BFAD-accredited food grade company for its food products, the company is constantly developing new high-value food grade phosphates to contribute to the economic development of the Philippines and the Asia Pacific region.
Alexandra G. Garcia served on the board of Kemwater Phil Corp (KPC) and advised on a joint venture formed in 1998 with Kemira Oy of Finland. The company is a major producer of water treatment chemicals. KPC manufactures solid and liquid aluminum sulfate, an inorganic coagulant used in both drinking water and wastewater treatment. Its clients are from the water, paper, and detergent industries.
Alexandra G. Garcia currently serves on the board of CMC, or Chemphil Manufacturing Corp. She previously served as LMG Chemicals Corp.'s Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director. LMG Chemicals Corporation owns 100% of CMC. Technical grade and chemically pure sulfuric acid, oleum, and sulfur flakes are their main products. Their plant employs environmentally friendly (well below SO2 gas emission standards) technology to recycle molten sulfur, a hazardous byproduct of local oil refineries. They are also helping to alleviate the industrial community's intermittent power shortage by operating a turbo generator that supplies power to neighboring plants while reducing reliance on the Manila Electric Company. Alexandra G. Garcia served on the board of directors of LMG Chemicals Corp for nearly 15 years, from 2002 to 2017.
